Why Complete the A2 CofC?
The UK Civil Aviation Authority have recently updated their regulations, which now authorises remote pilots to fly drones with fewer restrictions and more freedoms.
The new regulations introduced on the 1st January 2021, currently host a transitional period of two years. During this time, remote pilots can operate their current drone within the Open Category, with Drones to now be sub-categorised within the Open Category; according to their weight.
Current legislative restrictions within the Open Category state, that pilots should not fly their drone any higher than 400ft from the surface, drop any articles or objects or carry dangerous goods.

A2 CofC Course
To complete the A2 CofC you must pass a theoretical examination only but is predicated on a ‘building block’ process of training and testing.
Prior to taking the 30 multiple choice questions examination the remote pilot is required to have completed the following ‘building blocks’:
Successful completion of the CAA’s Drone and Model Aircraft online training course for basic remote pilot competency and the associated competency test, and be in possession of the ‘Flyer ID’ number associated with that test;
Completion of a period of practical flight training, either with INFRATEC Drones of under ‘self-monitored’ circumstances, conducted within the operation conditions of subcategory A3 but simulation the operating situations associated with the A2 subcategory;
Remote Pilots must declare, in writing, that they have completed the above building blocks to INFRATEC Drones.
